Today (27 October), Awaab’s Law comes into effect – a vital step in ensuring every home is free from the dangers of damp and mould.

We remember Awaab Ishak, a two-year-old boy who tragically lost his life because of mould in his home. His story must never be forgotten, and the law in his name stands as a lasting reminder of the importance of homes where residents can live safely, with dignity.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable in their home. Awaab’s Law strengthens our responsibility to act swiftly when residents report problems, helping to ensure that such a tragedy is never repeated.

G15 members are united in our commitment to uphold the standards that this law represents, and to ensure that all of our homes remain safe, warm, and dry.

Awaab’s story reminds us why safe, well-maintained homes must always be our priority.
