G15 comments on Right to Buy announcement

Following the Prime Minister’s speech on 9 June 2022 announcing his intention to further pilot the Right to Buy for housing association residents, Richard Hill, G15 Vice-Chair and
Chief Executive of One Housing Group, said:

“We share the government’s commitment
to supporting more people to realise their aspirations of owning their own
home. In doing so, it is essential that we also increase the delivery of social
housing and continue to maintain existing homes well.

“Ensuring that any homes
sold under the Right to Buy are replaced on a like-for-like basis has to be the
starting point.

“We welcome the government’s commitment to engaging with the
sector on its proposals and look forward to seeing further details.”
